With roots in 19th-century China, Mahjong has traveled across generations, cultures, and continents evolving into different styles of play while keeping something important at its center: people gathering around a table.

At Adventures for Women, a Just Right Events Community, our experiences focus on American Mahjong, a distinct version of the game played using the National Mah Jongg League card and rules.

We believe the best Mahjong experiences are about more than learning the rules or winning a hand. They’re about who’s around the table, where you’re gathering, and everything that happens in between.

Hosted by Adventures for Women and thoughtfully curated and produced by Just Right Events, each Mahjong gathering brings together the game, the setting, and the social experience.

Just Right Events is behind the planning, from selecting the venue and shaping the atmosphere to food and beverage, special touches, and the overall flow of the experience. Experienced Mahjong trainers bring their expertise to the tables, leading instruction, guiding play, and helping players build their skills and confidence.

Adventures for Women brings the community together. Just Right Events creates the experience around them. And our Mahjong trainers bring the game expertise.

From first-time players to those ready to sharpen their strategy, we offer American Mahjong learning experiences for a variety of levels.

Beginner classes and Boot Camps introduce the fundamentals, while next-level learning and guided play help developing players gain confidence, strengthen their game, and spend more time at the table.

And because learning Mahjong should lead to actually playing Mahjong, there is always somewhere to go next.

For those ready to make Mahjong a regular thing, there’s The Mahjong Society.

Our seasonal league combines consistent American Mahjong play and friendly competition with a curated social experience.

Each season will feature six league gatherings, rotating tables and opponents, individual scoring and season-long standings, weekly prizes and surprises, end-of-season recognition, a Mahjong host, time to mingle, and food and beverage opportunities at a thoughtfully selected host venue.

It’s competitive enough to keep things interesting—but never so serious that it takes the fun out of the room.

A full weekend Mahjong retreat is in the works for 2027, combining plenty of time at the tables with everything we love about an Adventures for Women getaway.
